A family story

croquis

Since the 17th century, the Vaillant family has passed on their family lands from generation to generation. Brothers and sisters, with our team, we have been practicing biodynamics since 2008. To express the authenticity of the wines, we pay particular attention to work in the vineyard.

Our way of working

The vines that we cultivate in Organic and Biodynamic Agriculture extend over 55 ha and are planted with Chenin grape for the whites, Cabernet Franc, Grolleau, and Pineau d'Aunis for the reds and Cabernets and Grolleau for the rosés. The wines we offer owe their variety to the different exposures and nature of the soil that composes it: gray and green schists, phtanite, quartz, shellfish, sands, rolled gravels.

Une histoire de famille

biodynamie préparation

Biodynamics allows us a comprehensive approach to the plant and the environment based on the influences that come from the earth, air and water. The vines thrive in the best possible environment, which makes them less susceptible to pests and limits the applications of copper mixture and sulfur. The development of microbial life in the soil is a priority so that the roots draw all the useful elements from the bedrock. Then, we promote the development of numerous annual and perennial herbs, which provide favorable biodiversity to the ecosystem.

We are also attentive to the rhythm of the planets and adapt certain works, in particular tillage, in order to take advantage of favorable influences. The vines become more resistant and a few applications of herbal teas, small doses of copper and sulfur porridge allow us to obtain good and regular harvests. All this work, in keeping with our environment, brings very interesting results in terms of the quality of the wines but also at the human level. It is indeed a great pleasure to feel in harmony with nature.

In the cellar, we intervene very little on the wines, no exogenous input as well as little transfer. All our wines are No added sulphites, not fined and unfiltered, with the exception of wines with residual sugars (2 to 3 mg / L of SO2). We favor fruit days for racking and bottling. Nearly 300 barrels are the subject of all the attentions to ensure optimum vinification and aging.
